Take Action to Support The Ban on Hardened Beach Structures in North Carolina!

North Carolina law has prohibited hardened structures on its beaches and inlets for more than two decades. Watch the debate. We urge residents of North Carolina to become part of the movement by submitting the following petition (SB 832):

The petition to support the ban on hardened beach structures in North Carolina is a non-political effort.

I lived in NC for 15 years, and am proud of how NC has managed its beaches.

If we allow hardened structures to protect private homes, soon we will have "triangles of sand" like teh NJ coast.

Do you want a beautiful NC coast, or the NJ cost ?

Keep up the great work, thanks!

Australia's Stradbroke is the world's second largest sand island and in the same chain as World Heritage listed Fraser Island. It is already being damaged by sand mining and is about to be quarried for construction sand. See more and sign the peittion to the wealthy Belgian family that owns Sibelco, a sand miner operating in 40 countries on more than 200 sites, many on or near RAMSAR wetlands. To read more and to sign the petition go to http://www.change.org/petitions/scr-sibelco-nv-stop-mining-stradbroke-island?share_id=PLJQcBpezQ&pe=isa

I support the ban on hardened beach structures in North Carolina. I live on Gabriola Island, British Columbia. Our Prime Minister Steven Harper along with Enbridge Oil want to build a pipeline to move oil from the tar sands of Alberta to Kitimat BC. Here a oil tanker dock will be built to export the oil to China. I am trying to bring awareness to this cause, they have to be stopped. Here is a link to a website with pictures that a American Kayaker took as he paddled from Prince Rupert down the Outside Passage of the Coast of BC. These are the beaches, oceans and animals that can be destroyed if Harper pushes this through. http://web.cecs.pdx.edu/~walpole/OutsidePassage.html
